Virtual Mailbox New York City: Prices, Providers & Setup

Looking for a virtual mailbox in New York City? NYC has a deep selection of real-street-address options, from lower-cost mail-center addresses to premium Manhattan locations. Compare neighborhood, address type, mail volume, scan fees, forwarding, pickup, and what you plan to use the address for.

Disclosure: some provider links are affiliate links. That does not change the price you pay.

NYC-specific tip: do not pay Manhattan prestige pricing unless the address itself matters to you. Current listings range from inexpensive Broadway and Lexington Avenue mailboxes to premium Fifth Avenue and other office-building locations.

Who Uses a New York City Virtual Mailbox?

Small business

Professional NYC mailing address

Receive routine business mail without leasing a Manhattan office.

Remote work

Manage mail from anywhere

View envelopes, request scans and forward physical mail without visiting the mailbox.

Travel & expats

Keep U.S. mail accessible

Maintain one mailing address while traveling or living abroad, while keeping residential-address requirements separate.

Brand image

Pay for prestige only if useful

Fifth Avenue and Midtown can look impressive, but premium addresses are not automatically better mailbox services.

NYC Business Address vs. New York Service of Process

The New York Department of State says an LLC's Articles of Organization designate the Secretary of State as agent for service of process and provide an address where the Secretary of State can mail a copy of process.

The filing also designates the New York county where the LLC's office is located; Manhattan is New York County and Brooklyn is Kings County.

A virtual mailbox can be useful for routine mail, but do not assume the provider becomes your registered agent or that every bank, license, or filing accepts the address for every purpose.

USPS Form 1583 for an NYC Virtual Mailbox

Commercial mail receiving agencies generally require USPS Form 1583 and identity verification before receiving mail for you.

A notary is not always required by USPS. The current process permits real-time physical or virtual witnessing by the CMRA owner, manager, or authorized employee, or acknowledgment before a U.S.-commissioned notary.

How to Choose an NYC Virtual Mailbox

1. Decide if prestige matters

If the address is customer-facing, building and neighborhood may matter. If it is mostly for mail handling, compare fees first.

2. Check local pickup

Broadway, Midtown and Upper East Side locations can be very different trips. Pickup fees and hours can matter more than monthly price.

3. Price scans and forwarding

Model content scans, forwarding, recipients and storage instead of comparing only base price.
